FIRST LEGO League Tournament Committee
(See Voluntário / Volunteer to sign up to be a volunteer.)
A Tournament Committee is formed at least four months prior to the tournament. It may be necessary and/or desirable to consolidate or expand some of the following roles:
Tournament Event Management Team (1-3 members): The Tournament Event Management Team oversees the entire operation of the Tournament, from load-in to load-out.
Judge Advisor: Judges are often distinguished individuals who serve as role models for team members. They usually have some experience in engineering design, computer programming, scientific research, education, teamwork, leadership and similar fields.
Head Referee: Referees are among the most important roles at any FLL tournament. They must learn the missions, rules, scoring and Q&A for the Challenge before the event and they have direct interaction with the teams during the nerve-wracking robot performance rounds.
VIP/Media/Publicity Coordination Team (1-3 members): These people take the lead in promoting the FIRST LEGO League Tournament to the media and VIP guests. This volunteer position is very important because greater community awareness of the FLL can lead to increased support for the program and the teams.
Technical Team (1-3 members): This team should have familiarity with staging concerts/theater/events and should have experience and familiarity with the various computer, audio, and visual requirements.
Team and Materials Coordinator: This person is responsible for communications to teams and securing the necessary equipment to host the tournament.
Volunteer Coordination Team (1-3 members): Volunteers are a critical component of a successful FLL tournament since there must be sufficient people to ensure coverage of all areas. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and organizing individuals to assist on the day of the event.
Fundraising Coordination Team (1-3 members): If your region does not have an FLL Planning Committee, it will be important to have someone focused on raising the funds necessary to run a Championship tournament.
Sponsor Representative (optional): Corporate and business sponsors sometimes serve on the Tournament Committee.
Host Site Representative (optional): An official from the tournament site sometimes serves on the Tournament Committee.
